About the species Largemouth bass
How to recognise it
An olive-green body with a dark lengthwise band on the side. The mouth is large and reaches past the eye; the dorsal fin is divided into a spiny and a soft part.
Where it lives
Warm overgrown ponds and reservoirs. It originates in North America.
What it feeds on
Fish, crayfish, frogs and larger insects.
The regulation classes it among species with a demonstrably negative impact on natural ecosystems. Never release it into other waters.

Under the decree the species may be caught from 1 January to 31 December (Section 10, paragraph 4). This does not mean it may be caught in every water at any time: the closed season, the permit and the fishing rules of the district can restrict fishing.
