About the species White willow

About the species

A tree on the banks of rivers and ponds. Its branches shade the water and its roots hold the bank.

Where to find it by the water

River and pond banks and floodplain forests where the soil is damp.

What this means for anglers

Shaded banks have cooler water and fish seek cover there in summer. Submerged roots form undercut hides. Watch out for line snagging on branches.

When it is observed

Records by month in the areas around the fishing districts (GBIF).

In November the species is observed less than in the main season. Most records are from July.

The records come from people's observations and also reflect when and where observers move around. They are not a measurement of numbers or a guarantee of an encounter.

Where it was recorded

Fishing districts around which a record of this species exists. Sorted by number of records.

1,008 fishing districts in total, 36 shown. The number next to a fishing district is the number of records around it. Show on map
