About the species Mallard

About the species

The most common duck; it nests by almost every water with bankside vegetation.

Where to find it by the water

Ponds, rivers, lakes and wetlands, also in towns. Nests on the ground in grass or in reeds.

What this means for anglers

While fishing it may come close to baits. Do not feed it at the fishing spot and collect your line, as ducks easily get tangled in it.

When it is observed

Records by month in the areas around the fishing districts (GBIF).

V mesiaci november sa druh pozoruje bežne. Najviac záznamov je z mesiaca apríl.

The records come from people's observations and also reflect when and where observers move around. They are not a measurement of numbers or a guarantee of an encounter.

1,400 fishing districts in total, 36 shown. The number next to a fishing district is the number of records around it. Show on map
