About the species Mute swan
About the species
A large white waterbird that nests by slow waters, reservoirs and ponds with vegetation.
Where to find it by the water
Ponds, lakes, reservoirs and slow rivers, often in towns. Nests on the bank in the reeds.
What this means for anglers
During nesting it can defend itself against attacks, so do not approach the nest and young. Tangled line and hooks are dangerous to birds, so leave the bank clean.
When it is observed
