About the species Noble crayfish

About the species

A native crayfish of clean streams and reservoirs. It is rare and endangered by crayfish plague and invasive crayfish.

Where to find it by the water

Clean, well-oxygenated streams, rivers and reservoirs with stony hiding places and steep banks.

What this means for anglers

It is protected and its presence indicates clean water. If you hook it, carefully return it to the water. Dry or disinfect your gear after fishing so that crayfish plague is not spread.

When it is observed

Records by month in the areas around the fishing districts (GBIF).

In November the species is observed less than in the main season. Most records are from August.

The records come from people's observations and also reflect when and where observers move around. They are not a measurement of numbers or a guarantee of an encounter.

Where it was recorded

Fishing districts around which a record of this species exists. Sorted by number of records.

1,062 fishing districts in total, 36 shown. The number next to a fishing district is the number of records around it. Show on map
