About the species Gray wolf

About the species

A shy predator of the forests. It comes to the water at night and at dusk.

Where to find it by the water

Extensive forests, especially in the mountains. It comes to streams to drink and to hunt game.

What this means for anglers

When fishing at night in the mountains stay near the fire and the camp, and do not feed wildlife.

How to protect yourself

Attacks on people are very rare. Keep the camp tidy, do not feed wildlife and keep your dog on a lead.

When it is observed

Records by month in the areas around the fishing districts (GBIF).

In November the species is observed less than in the main season. Most records are from August.

The records come from people's observations and also reflect when and where observers move around. They are not a measurement of numbers or a guarantee of an encounter.

Where it was recorded

Fishing districts around which a record of this species exists. Sorted by number of records.

886 fishing districts in total, 36 shown. The number next to a fishing district is the number of records around it. Show on map
