About the species
A hidden forest predator. It comes to the water for prey. Attacks on people are not known; an encounter is very unlikely.
Where to find it by the water
Extensive forests in the mountains, especially in central and northern Slovakia. By the water it moves along forest streams.
What this means for anglers
Meeting it at a fishing district is exceptionally rare. It is revealed only by a camera-trap record or a track. Behave calmly in the forest and leave it an escape route.
